The NGO Agronomos Sin Fronteras is constituted as a Foundation and is a private non lucrative entity subject to Spanish law. It has been constituted last year and declared of general interest by ministerial decree of 15 June 2004, and registered with number 28/1318 in the Ministerio de Trabajo y Asuntos Sociales. This entity was born from the motivation of a group of agriculture engineers that after learning about the social and economic reality of Third World countries have felt the necessity of contributing every possible help to improve the life conditions of this eminently agricultural populations. From this base a range of different people was contacted. People coming from fields as far apart as Economics, Logistics and IT, and that are necessary for the correct functioning of the Foundation. work together; one of them, in Tanzania, is in charge of evaluating new programmes and direct Program Ihanzutwa; the other, located in Spain, aims to creating a network of associates and rising funds for the projects, as well as coordinating the volunteering scheme, and carry out project formal formulation and liaison with different institutions eager to collaborate in the Program.
Convinced that all development should begin with the primary sector, the Foundation was born with full dedication to it. Also because other sectors such as sanitary, educational or emergency relief are already covered by other entities. A prospective trip to the southern highlands of Tanzania was arranged in January and February 2004. With the base in Iringa, the Project Ihanzutwa began to undertake its development, a development which is being executed since the beginning of May. |
